Not because I couldn't get a transmog set (that I would probably never use) but because I am realizing that I might not be as good as I thought I was. My desire to login and (at least) get my weekly cache is gone. I found my hotkeys were changed all around, "random" gear equipped, talents and consumables all over the place, and I just sighed. I logged in last night to give it one more attempt. Played other games, enjoyed the holidays. Could the Cataclysm version of me have done this? How much of it was me vs tuning? Other people were completing the challenge, so it must be possible. When I finally called it quits, I started to realize maybe I wasn't as good at my class as I thought I was. I tweaked cooldown usage, potion and drums timing to various parts of the encounter, but I just couldn't get it. I found/made interrupt macros to speed up target switching.
#CORRUPTED SHADOW MAGE TOWER FULL#
I got better at understanding the full toolkit of my class. I tried different talent builds, things like Surrender to Madness, which I don't normally use. Progress happened, like learning a new raid boss. It was going to be me versus the encounter. I did buy 25k worth of consumables, and found some older gear that scaled better in my bank. Not perfect, not top 1%, but I thought I was at least "good" enough. The class I follow every expansion with BIS spreadsheets/websites. The toon that got Tarecgosa in Cataclysm - and mastered the mind spike opener rotation to push the 95th damage percentile in Heroic Dragon Soul. This is the character that I've played since vanilla. Do not be afraid to use Guardian Spirit if you are worried that an NPC might die, use it wherever necessary.During the first week of the mage tower I put in 200+ disheartening attempts with my shadow priest. Once you have completed this, continue to damage the Corrupted Risen Mage and continue alternating Shackle Undead to interrupt Knife Dance's and Mana Sting. This sequence is imperative to pull off and will provide optimal nullification to all of the different mobs most deadly abilities. When the Corrupted Risen Soldier begins to cast Knife Dance, Shackle Undead him, then Holy Word: Chastise the Corrupted Risen Mage, then turn around to Shackle Undead the Corrupted Risen Arbalest who is now casting Mana Sting on you. As the last wave activates, step back near the middle of the room and start DPSing the Corrupted Risen Mage. Going into Wave 5, you MUST have your Holy Word: Chastise already off cooldown and ready to utilize as this Wave requires a very precise sequence of spells to ensure stability. If you and another party member are dropping low, this Wave is also a good time to utilize Guardian Spirit to survive. Apotheosis will also allow you to reset the cooldown of your Holy Word: Chastise very rapidly if you are able to use some Smites while keeping the party alive. Continue alternating Shackles on the Corrupted Risen Soldier as needed to interrupt the Knife Dance, this is a good wave to utilize Apotheosis to heal through the Fixate and any Knife Dance damage that may have gotten through. You will then immediately Holy Word: Chastise the Corrupted Risen Mage as they will have gotten to high stacks. Shackle Undead the first one, then immediately Shackle Undead the next one before too much damage goes out on the party. The hard waves begin! Two Corrupted Risen Soldiers spawn and immediately both begin to cast Knife Dance. Don't forget to alternate your Flash Heals every now and then (if not playing with Binding Heal) to benefit from the Trail of Light and not waste its healing on either you or one of your friends Ghosts : Nothing new here I think all the guides will tell you the same thing, Apotheosis then spam everything for the first wave, divine hymn for the second one, use whatever you can for the third one. What are you struggling on here ? Healing ? DPSing ? Controls ? I think this phase should be easier as Holy Priest than other healers, due to Shackle undead that removes all the annoying spells (arrow, blade dance.). Phase 1 : Shackle everything that is annoying and stun the Mage for him to destack. Second, I've used Prydaz and the Waist legendary, which is completely awesome to heal ghosts as you can have a massive Sanctify (thanks to Binding Heal) which will deliver a monster heal to all 3 ghosts if they're close enough You can completely ignore healing yourself during most of the phases First, I've done it with Surge of Light at first, but I found that Binding Heal was lit.
